Three Little Pigs

Remember those little ceramic objects that you could buy at the souvenir stores on Route 66?

Doing a painting a day is a small tyranny, and I didn't make it today! Tomorrow, even though it's the weekend, I will post a new one to meet my vow of at least five new paintings a week.

Small Altar

SOLD

Several times, I've attempted paintings involving candlelight. They present great challenges for me, getting just the right degree of darkness in the background to really make the candles and their light glow in the surroundings. I've tried it again here, without as much success as I'd like. Still, I think it's a nice enough effect. And after all, it is a painting I've done in just one day! In the other paintings like this I've done, I've found myself going back in, and back in, and back in, to get just the right degree of contrast.

White Pitcher and Beads

SOLD
I think the background color on my other paintings in the blog is beautiful, but I decided to go for dark this time, for a change. I like it! The colors in the beads really sparkle against it. Expect to see more of it.

Turquoise Condiment Jar

I don't know why I keep going for such challenging images in my daily painting. They invariably take more time than I intended. Still, I continue to be attracted to glass, here in an unusual color. I used an incredible variety of greens and blues here, some warmer some cooler, to suggest the transparency and reflectiveness of the glass.

Oh, Clementines!

Okay, all the other painting-a-day artists are doing oranges. Me, too!
