Paint Tubes
Quote from Robert Henri in "The Art Spirit",
"Find out what you really like if you can. Find out what is really important to you. Then sing your song."

Pink Carnations and Marbles
Another quote from Mark Doty: "(Still life) is an art that points to the human by leaving the human out; nowhere visible, we're everywhere. It is an art that points to meaning through wordlessness, that points to timelessness through things permanently caught in time. That points to immensity through intimacy. An art of modest claims that seems perennial, inexhaustible."

Small Jar with Rocks
This is my first daily painting. Small and humble, but with its place in the world now.
The following quote from Mark Doty´s small book, "Still Life With Oysters and Lemon", summarizes what I find to be the mystique of still life: "In still life....things had a history, a set of personal meanings; they were someone's. The paintings seem to refer to this life of ownership, and to suggest something of the feeling attached to things, while withholding any narrative. What could we ever know of this cup or platter, the pearl-handled knife? Their associations are long since dead, though something of the personal seems to glow here still, all its particulars distilled into an aura of intimacy."
